Ceramic inlays and onlays are types of dental restorations used to repair damaged or decayed teeth while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.
Inlays and onlays are custom-made restorations fabricated from tooth-colored ceramic material, such as porcelain or composite resin. They are typically made in a dental laboratory to match the color, shape, and size of the patient's natural teeth, ensuring a seamless and aesthetic result.
Ceramic inlays are used to repair damage or decay within the cusps (raised points) of a tooth, while ceramic onlays are used to restore larger areas of damage that extend over one or more cusps. Both inlays and onlays are bonded securely to the remaining tooth structure, providing strength, durability, and an excellent cosmetic appearance.
